is real. People might have put a colorful toy in the loch and
made it look really close up. Maybe they made the photo
blurry on purpose. Maybe it was made out of clay. On the
other hand, some of us think that it might be real because
someone must have seen something. Also, the picture that
we saw was way too big to be any other animal that
we have seen. We enjoyed visiting your Web site! It really
made us think about this mystery.

comment Have never been to the UK but have
followed stories of Nessie sightings for years.
The theory that I find most plausible is that the rift
valley trapped denizens of prehistoric times in
the depths of the loch. Graham Hancock's
book "Fingerprints of the Gods" describes
upheavals around 12500 years ago that could
shed light on the Loch Ness mystery too. Since
childhood I have read science fiction stories
and although I am a translator and language
editor by profession, the thrill of unsolved
mysteries is always enticing. Life would be
dreadfully dull if our minds could not reach
out to explore new ideas and possibilities!

should be called a monster. Near where I live,
there is a little pond. And a few years ago,
these people painted a log that is sticking out of
the water. They painted it green with yellow
spots! It really does look like some of the
Nessie photos (if you have an active
imagination). So, even though I've never been

have killed the plant eating dinosaurs and that
would have killed the meat eating dinosaurs, but
the underwater plants would not have been killed,
so the monster could have survived. This cave that

there seems to be no sign of the humps that were
refered to in basicly all the sightings of the
'monster'.
Drawings of the 'monster' all show the humps with
the neck not that far out of the water. My conclution
is that if the creature's neck are that far out of the
water then the humps must have been visible.
The 'monster's' neck is also in such a position
that the humps must have been visible.
Conclution:
I think the photo is a fake. Having said that I am
still intrigue and fasinated by the mystery of the
Lock Ness moster And will keep on reading this

comment Prehistoric animals have fascinated me
my whole life and eversince being a young kid, I've
been a firm believer in "Nessie" - be there just the one
or, hopefully, more (yeah, like, they come in 6 packs).
I lived in London for a number of years and have
visited Wales and Ireland but the closest I've
ever been to Scotland was probably Birmingham,
which wasn't by choice. Had intended to go up to
Inverness but I guess I just never got my act
together - the cold had alot to do with it; could just
about handle winter in London! However, I will return
to live in the UK one day and will definitely make an
effort to go up and have a butchers for myself to see
if I, too, can get a personal glimpse of this alleged
huge, 30ft, long-necked, 2-3 humped,
giraffe/elephant/plesiosaurus-like living legend.
Goodness, I'd be honoured.

Hello my name is Tressa and I am 11 years old
and I have read almost all of the Loch Ness
monster Books and I just happened to come by
this web page I checked out most of the pictures
but when I got to the question and saw the picture
and read the question I came up with this answer:
No the picture is not real I have seen it before in
some of the books and I could tell from just a
glimps that it was very fake. have done a lot of
research on it and i have come to a conclusion
that "Nessie" is a part of the plesiasaur family
that was trapped in the lake when the mountains
started rising and since all of the fresh water
snow drifts and the mountain streams poured
fresh water into the lake the creature slowly
adapted to the change and lived in some kind of
cave in the Uquart Bay.

girlfriend. Intended to hunt Nessies. Found a
Nessie in the local shop (About 5 inches high...)
Nessie has since been well travelled (US, Greece)
and has generally been very happy in her adopted
home, crumping all in her path She has a full title
now, along the lines of 'Her Most Royal Majestic
Crumpiness, General Chief Empress the Lord High
Nessie (And to be honest is a little arrogant about it)
but she is most friendly and we look back fondly
on our camping trip in Drumnadrochit...

comment It's a conspiracy... Nessies know that
as they are so rare and therefore a center of
attention that the best way for them to remain
anonymous is to discredit themselves.. Therefore
the Nessies take the most ludicrous pictures of
themselves, models, twigs, logs or anything else,
and so people think that they are fake, made-up
and don't exist, allowing the Nessie population to
exist in peace....

comment Hello. The picture shown on this page
looks very real. However, it is hard to believe that
there is in fact a Loch Ness Monster, since there
already is scientific proof of it just being a myth. But, I
believe that there is a monster, maybe, since the
legend has been around for so long, there is perhaps
some reproduction going on. About an hour's ride
from where I live, there is suppose to be a lake called
Lake Utopia, that every ten years a similar monster
shows up, though about fifty feet in length. On one
side of the lake, it goes out shallow for a long time
and gradually gets deeper, but on the other side,
you walk out ten feet and you're swimming
in forty feet of water. Just this past summer, there was
a sighting, after the usual ten years. I think I believe
in the Loch Ness Monster because there is a similar
legend so close to me.

does exist and is still living in the lake of Loch ness
and has long sense reproduced with another species
like her self and they are some how spreading into the
opean sea and traveling to other lakes and rivers as
well. But one thing is for certain she was around long
before we was and will be for a very long time may it
be in another lake or maby just in our minds but she
will always be around somewhere so if you are lucky
enoughf to see the creature treasure it always
beacause one day she might not be around any more

a little suspicious even to the eye, some appear more
like a mother duck and ducklings than a graceful head
with rear humps... still, a similar number also look very
lifelike and maybe they are. The search in 1982 using
Sonar Technology surely must have knocked back the
legend, but isn't the loch linked to the outside sea or
something??? Maybe Nessie had gone out for a swim
and returns occasionally, this would explain why the
sightings are so rare...

comment as you can tell by my Screen name I am a nessie
fan. and I am not ashamed to say so, when people ask my
what "nessie" is, I simply state a simple 2 words, "a mystery"
oh, yes I could go into detail of all the evidence the have found
of it and what hoaxes have been pulled, for i have read all that
but i can not say it is real or that is not . none of us can say so.
not even people who have seen it.for they could have seen a
hoax. but nor can any of us say it is not real, for maybe the sighting
was not a hoax. as i can not also say the time will tell, for I don't
know that, perhaps nessie will always be an unsolved mystery.
perhaps nessie is not a monster but a a shy creature that is
simply huge but means no harm.I don't know, but none of you do
either, nor most likely will you ever. now, if you believe this is
written by an adult, well you are wrong, for I am only 11 years
old, but I perhaps have a better understanding of this then
most adults so do not shun me for my age, but shun me for what I
say if you wish to do so For who knows, perhaps I have been
correct the whole
time ...

comment I'm very interested in Nessie as is my teacher.
When i am older i would like to study Nessie as well as
Scotland herself. My friend had an idea to find Nessie if she
exists. He suggestes that some one put up a break wall on the
highland side and then wait a few years alowing the dirt in the
water to leave the loch then do a sweep of the area. This
would also block any existing tunnels which Nessie
could hide in.

mentioned a light colored strip on Nessie's neck. This is my

to edit photos on computers.

visited the Loch, but will when I come to Scotland. I feel that those
people who discount the possibility of the creatures existence are
extremely narrow minded. After all there was a recent
(within the last 20 or so years) discovery off the coast of
Madagascar of a live specimen of a species of fish believed to
be extinct for quite a long time. I have had an interest in the Loch
and its inhabitant since early childhood and enjoy your site

am convinced that there is, or are, large creature/s present in the

mutant form of another, more common creature, isn't important.
Too many intelligent people have been repeating sitings for too
long for the whole idea to be a complete fiction, at least I hope so.

I do think that some dinosaurs still exist as we have not covered

we haven't discovered yet and never will if we continue to keep
our minds closed. Just because we can't see or touch
something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I believe this world
holds more wonders than we can possible imagine and I think
that makes our ordinary lives much more exciting to think that
there are still mysteries to be solved and places to explore
without ever having to explore other planets to find them.

comment Dear Sirs,
I am curious why my hunt for Nessie in my submarine in 1969
is nowhere to be found. I spent six months there scared stiff
most of the time underwater. Even though we had a couple of
good sonar contacts and I ran into a disturbance on the bottom
once that turned my boat around and off course. We wern`t very
successful then but we certainly tried hard. Since then I have
decided that I cannot let my failure stand. I am building a new
submarine which can carry four and will be capable of 20 knots.
My objectives will remain the same. A picture and most
important, a piece of her hide. Looking forward to seeing
the Ness again.
